Sydney Swans unveils their 2024 Marn Grook guernsey, designed by proud Yuin artist Richard Campbell in conjunction with our ARA First Nations Foundations program.
The artwork depicts Richard's totem, Gunyu, transforming into the wise elder Gumaraa. Gumaraa gazes through his totem, reflecting on the past, present, and future of his country. He is a warrior representing his land, which includes the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge, symbols of the present and future built on his homelands.
The four circles symbolise Gumaraa's family and unity among tribes across Sydney. Three Aboriginal warriors on the guernsey represent past and present Swans players, while two hands signify connection and unity.
